You have your sushi places. You have your tapas bars. But at Ocean Blue Carrollwood you kind of have both. That's right, the standards like teriyaki, tempura and noodles, alongside some interesting tapas offerings such as conch ceviche (fried plantains with a special vinaigrette sauce), or crispy pork dumplings with a piquant ginger sauce. Okay, so the tapas offerings have a decidedly Asian-fusion flair. But it's still a cool mix and it's all quite tasty. You shouldn't get the idea, however, that Ocean Blue is designed to satisfy only your palate. It's designed for fun, too, with parties celebrating everything from friends' birthday parties to the Chinese New Year to Cinquo De Mayo. Come to think of it, every Friday night is a party, with a live jazz band and a kickin' happy hour during which you can drink to your heart's content from 6 to 9 p.m. for $18. As with its food, Ocean Blue doesn't skimp on quality, offering top-shelf gin, whiskey and rum, among other spirits. It's a happening place.
